FAQ
Got questions? We've got answers.
What is World Cup Scorer?
It's a game you play with your friends during the World Cup. You create a mini-league, make claims like "I'm having a pint" or "I'm at the pub", upload photo proof, and your mates vote on whether it counts. Approved claims earn points. Whoever's top of the league table wins.
What's a claim?
A claim is something you say you're doing during a match — "3 Pints at the Pub", "Watching in My Kit", etc. Each claim has requirements (things you need to prove with photos). You can make one claim per match.
How does voting work?
Each proof photo gets voted on separately by your league. Your league admin sets how many approvals are needed (default is 3). If a proof gets enough rejections, it's denied — but you can upload a replacement and try again.
When can I make claims?
Claims and proof uploads open 1 hour before kick-off and close when the match ends. Voting on proofs stays open after the match, so your league can catch up later.
Is it free?
Yes, for leagues of up to 4 players. If you want more than 4, it's a one-time payment of £3 per player. Nobody gets charged until everyone in the league agrees to upgrade. No subscriptions, no recurring fees.
How does the upgrade work?
The league admin starts the upgrade. Everyone authorises £3 via card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. Nobody is charged until all members have authorised. Once everyone's in, the charges go through and the league can grow beyond 4 players.
Can I be in more than one league?
Not right now — you're in one league at a time. We might add multi-league support in the future.
What stops people cheating?
Your mates. Every photo gets voted on. If someone uploads yesterday's pint, you reject it. If something slips through, the league admin can override any claim. The arguing is half the fun.
Do notifications work on iPhone?
Yes! You'll need to add World Cup Scorer to your Home Screen first (tap the share button in Safari, then "Add to Home Screen"). After that, notifications work just like any other app.
What happens to my photos?
Photos are stored securely and only visible to your league members. They're compressed on your phone before uploading to keep things fast. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
